soundAMP gets high marks from customers!

Friday, July 30th, 2010

These are customer reviews of the new soundAMP apps for iPhone.

#1
As good or better than my $3,000 hearing aids (which I disliked and basically never got used to) but I have the same complaint — not enough volume. The tuning feature is excellent, but there are situations and speakers when I have the volume way up (I pretty much leave it there) and I still want more volume. If this were possible, I’d give it 5 stars. For the money, it’s pretty amazing.

Note from Ginger Labs – a couple of ways to achieve max volume — move the volume slider to the top, slide Zoom slider all the way up, slide tuning buttons to the right, and be sure that iPod volume limiter is turned off (in settings). Try the built-in mic, it’s more sensitive, and also sit closer to the sound source.

soundAMP R now works just about perfectly with the iPhone4 and the headset that comes with the iPhone4. Unlike the previous versions (and previous iPhone) there is no background whistling, no HVAC rumble, and voices come through clearly. People who I couldn’t understand at all are now clear.

If there are several conversations going on nearby the microphone picks them all up equally and it’s sometime hard to isolate the people you want to hear from those you don’t. This is minor and I don’t think the app can do anything about the fact that the microphone isn’t directional.

If there are frequently people that you know are saying something you can’t understand them, try this app with the iPhone4.

Note from Ginger Labs — try using the built-in mic on iPhone. It is directional and will help focus the sound for you. Just point the mic toward to the person speaking!

Excellent job, thank you!! :)

Note from Ginger Labs – you are welcome!

soundAMP & iOS4 multitasking

Friday, June 25th, 2010

soundAMP now supports iOS4 multitasking. This is a big advance for soundAMP users and means you can use other apps while listening to soundAMP — review your calendar, view photos, surf the web, check email and perform other tasks.

We also added a switch to control the sound while using other apps. This allows you to turn sound on or off in multitask mode.

The new versions of soundAMP 2.1 and soundAMP R support iOS4 multitasking. The new version of soundAMP Lite, our free hearing app, runs on iOS4, however it does not support multitasking.

All 3 versions of soundAMP have upgraded graphics for the new high-resolution screen for iPhone 4. It’s beautiful!

All 3 new versions of soundAMP have been uploaded to Apple for approval, and these should be available the week of June 28.

Free hearing on iPhone

Friday, May 28th, 2010

iPhone and iPod touch users number about 100 million today, and we believe this user base reflects the general population in terms of hearing. This suggests that about 10 million users have some level of hearing loss. Very few of these people will purchase hearing aids, in fact less than 10% will do so. The remaining 90% of iPhone and iPod users could benefit from using these devices to help them hear.

iPhones and iPods have the basic features for hearing — a microphone, a sound amplifier and earbuds. The devices are programmable and have large screens. Battery life is also a plus. What is lacking is an integrated hearing solution.

We developed the soundAMP line of hearing solutions to satisfy the hearing needs of these 9 million iPhone and iPod users. All users can try soundAMP Lite for free. This is a great way to see if soundAMP works for you. Use it all day, or in specific situations where you could benefit from a hearing boost.

15,000 users have tried it so far. We have just 8,985,000 users to go. Give it a try and let us know what you think.

Recording and playback are central to Notability’s design, not just tacked-on like other apps, so you get more useful recordings. With Notability, you can use the unique, 5-band EQ to adjust the sound, even reduce background noise, & get more amplification than other apps. If you have several recordings in a session, just tap the play button for 1 recording and the notes automatically scroll into view. Recording and playback are at the heart of Notability.
